PRECIOUS MOMENTS (FREMRAGENDE TIMER)

A controversial film about the age of consent

This short film is a move towards the mainstream for Norway’s arguably only bona fide underground film maker, Lars Daniel Krutzkoff Jacobsen.

”Precious Moments” is based on a 1997 trial, when a man in his thirties was convicted of having sex with a 15 year old boy. In Norway, the age of consent is 16. “The boy had replied to a personal ad the man had submitted in a newspaper, and they met for sex. Voluntarily, of course, for both parties. Another interesting point is that the boy was 15 years and ten months old, or in other words 56 days too young,” says the director, Krutzkoff Jacobsen. ”I’m not saying everything that happened was all that ’precious,’ but I can’t help wondering what the hue and cry is all about.”

The controversial director thinks artists should explore both society’s and the individual’s most tender spots. He has made seven trashfilms, and his debut, ”Pudding” is recognized both as Norway’s first gay and first trashfilm.

gwd production is best known for its documentaries on gay life. In 1996 for ”I love who I want to love” (”Jeg elsker hvem jeg vil”), Norway’s first documentary on being young and gay, and nominated for the Amanda and Gullruten awards. In 2000 ”Dirty, sinful me” (”BE – skitne, syndige meg”) won Best Documentary at Gullruten. The film explored why 20 year old Bjørn Erik – gay and a devout Christian – commited suicide.

Both documentaries have been very well received both in Norway and internationally, and more importantly have proved to make a difference, making gay youth more visible to the society.
